Miracle Man Walks Again!

Posted by Little-queen at 09:04:00 0 comments
Peng Shu Lin's body was cut in two by a lorry in 1995, it was little short of a medical miracle that he lived. It took a team of more than 20 doctors to save his life. His skin was grafted from his head to seal his torso. And the legless Mr Peng was left only 78cm (2ft 6in) tall. Bedridden for years, doctors in Chin a had little hope that he would ever be able to live anything like a normal life again. But recently, he began exercising his arms, building up the strength to carry out everyday chores such as washing his face and brushing his teeth. Doctors at the Chin a Rehabilitation Research Centre in Beijing found out about Mr Peng's plight late last year and devised a plan to get him up walking again. They came up with an ingenious way to allow him to walk on his own, creating a sophisticated egg cup-like casing to hold his body with two bionic legs attached to it.
He has been taking his first steps around the centre with the aid of his specially adapted legs and a resized walking frame. Mr Peng, who has to learn how to walk again, is said to be delighted with the device. What a Self Confidence! Great! See a sort of inexplicable enthusiasm, firm confidence and indomitable tenacity in his face?! Marvelous?! For people who make themselves in distress because of futile, frivolous and trivial reasons? Let's take him as your motivation and earn myriad lessons from him.

Finding my perfect work-life balance..

I do have a job, you do have a job and everyone do have a job, but how many of them are finding their job interesting, and how many of them can ensure their job doesn't take over their life, so that they have time for other interests?

I'm finding my perfect work-life balance, I guess everyone is the same, am I right?

How many of them dreaming Google working environment? I guess everyone do, right? It’s good to know you can get away from your desk if you need to, there’s a coffee shop, a chillout area, you can chat with your colleagues, and then return to your work after the short break. And, there's an onside dentist and chiropractor, you can just pop down there without taking a morning or afternoon off for an appointment. Or even an onside gym, a climbing wall, swimming pool, tennis courts and a variety of other diversions when you're ready to take a break? Google office cool right?

For me? Work-life balance is very appealing. I hope I have a fulfilling career without doing excessive hours, and of course I will put in extra hours if I required, I know there’s lots of give and take, I hope my efforts, my hard works will be recognised and rewarded. I hope I will be gaving a day off for my birthday, some subsidising expenses like study sponsorship, handphone or travelling allowances as such, and staging company fun days or company trips where my family or my closed one are invited. Haha.. ^^

Should I accept or decline?

Posted by Little-queen at 22:07:00 0 comments
I gave my one-week notice, by handing my letter of resignation to my boss and I feel relieved, because I think the hard part is over, yet I've promised my boss to stay for one month further for them to look for the replacement. While waiting the excitement of looking and starting a new job that replace the anxiety of quitting my present job during one month time, my boss messes up me by making me a counteroffer, which slightly a bit higher than what I'm having currently, asking me to reconsider, and telling me that I can expect to learn much more than what I'm doing currently. But what keep me in mind that they are likely to make a counteroffer much more for their benefit than mine. They might be making a counteroffer only to take advantage of me, until they find a cheaper or more dedicated replacement, am I right? Should I stay or should I go? Most of the career advisors advised it’s not a good idea to accept a counteroffer and I agreed so. "Why did they wait until I resigned, to offer me what I’m really worth to them?" I asked myself. And, once I've made it clear that I want to jump ship, my loyalty will be in question to them too. Anyway, I just don't feel like reconsider once I've make up my mind to resign my present job. I think I should land a new job with more pay and growth potential for myself. Am I right?

Happy New Year!

"Happy New Year!" January 1 marks the end of a period of remembrance of a particular passing year and that greeting will be said and heard for at least the first couple of weeks in January.

It's new year, a new year filled with hopes, aspirations and joy, let's embrace the dawn of a new beginning..

I must work really hard this year for achieving my dreams I want in my life. I guess, err mm.. I must not only work really hard but must also work really smart. Yes! I will see my dreams, my goals for life continue to become realities! ^^
